Food that can kill your dog. Not all human food is safe for your dog. Here is a list of the most dangerous foods for dogs:


Xylitol can cause your dog’s blood sugars to drop too low. Thus, can lead to seizures, damage to the liver, a coma, and even death.


There is a specific natural fungicide, called persin, in avocados that can create heart problems or digestive issues in dogs. The hard pit is slippery and easy to swallow which can lead to gastrointestinal obstruction.

Seeds in apples, pears, cherries, and plums

These seeds can cause convulsions, red gums, and difficulty to breath in dogs.


Caffeine can cause your dog’s pulse rate to go up as well as arrhythmias. Overfeeding can cause a seizure.


Alcohol is awfully bad for dogs. They can get alcohol poisoning even from lesser amounts.


Chocolate can lead to dehydration, abdominal pain, muscle tremors, vomiting, heart problems such as irregular heart rhythm and heart attacks, and death.  

Uncooked dough

Raw dough can create severe toxicity and even alcohol poisoning in dogs. The dough carries on to rise in the dog’s stomach which can extend its whole abdomen. This causes a lot of pain and potential blockages in the intestinal tract.


Salt can lead to tremors, edema, hypernatremia, seizures, or a fever. Salted popcorn, salted nuts, and salty chips contain too much salt for dogs.

Grapes and raisins

Grapes and raisins contain a natural chemical that is toxic to dogs. It can lead to dogs being very thirsty and causes kidney failure.

Garlic, onions, leeks, and chives

Garlic, onions, and chives have sulfur compounds that can affect the red blood cells and create anemia in dogs.
